Well...I don't know, depends how wild you are about the 1970 acoustic shows & Pigpen. I don't want to tell people NOT to buy it. On the other hand I won't be listening to this set much. I'm glad it's out there anyway, even if it's not a great performance.

Yeah, I kinda put you in a no win position. Sorry, unintended.

Nonetheless, I'm heading out to get it. Got the one last year too and glad I have it. I love their acoustic set so I am pretty much all in on this one.

I like the 70's acoustic shows/sets, but I think this might be the least inspired, ones I've heard . But it is 1970 acoustic, so it is still good, only weak in comparison with the others . Bit disappointed, but it is good to have a longer Pig set "in stone" . And it is a missing hole filled .Not every dig comes up with a Tut's tomb .
Surprising myself, I'll likely spend more time with the (sonically odd/flawed) Dave's ; a top flight 80 show, as apposed to this 70 footnotes sort of show .
Pretty much think you got it .

It is a show for completists, I think...it would make more sense as part of a "Download Series" than a Record Store Day promotion. I was hesitant to post even a semi-critical review of it before most people had heard it, but, fortunately there are lots of Dead completists out there!

I think it made sense as a record day promotion as it fit nicely on two lp's and had the unheard, acoustic and solo Pigpen angles going for it.It certainly is a for completist only release.I am a completist from the perspective that I have an interest in hearing all the music the band played from '68-'78.It always surprises me when I see long time forumites comment that they haven't heard a certain show,it makes me wonder how curiosity to at least check it out didn't arise.I would think you would forego listening to something you've heard to hear something you haven't simply on the hope of it being really good. All that being said if Me and My Uncle and Mama Tried are the highlights of the release that is the epitome of for completists only.
